I have a chocolate lab… best waterfowl dog in the world… but, I’m a little prejudice I guess…. She’s a great dog…. She was easy to train and she won’t even eat her food until I tell her too…..
They are trained as water rescue dogs so I would think so.Due to their thick hair ( I don’t think its fur )
they require a lot of maintenance as far as brushing goes
Yea. A friend of mine has this rare dog breed its called a louisiana catahoula leopard dog that he uses expensive but ive never seen a dog more suited for it
well…any dog can eventually be trained to do pretty much anything, and at east a newfoundland likes to swim, BUT you will be training against the dog’s instincts.
You should consider one of the many types of retrievers.

A Labrador (pick your color) would be better. It’s lighter, and won’t swamp the boat.
