Jacob’s idea works pretty well to get them started. The easiest / best way is to hunt your dog with other dogs that are already hunting real well. Try not to do it with more than a couple of other dogs though so you can keep tack of yours easier. Most of it really does come natural for them. Pay attention while your out, make sure your dogs not trailing way to fast or opening in one spot and traveling a long ways fast then opening again. That would mean your probably chasing a deer or bobcat. (I’m not sure what all you have where you live for them to chase) If that happens make sure you get your dog back in and scold it fairly hard. Start with shorter hunts, and a few of them. If your hunting down a creek, keep it a short distance, half of what you’d normally do. You can start again but that will help you keep an eye on the dog. I’m not sure what kind of terrain you’re hunting so it’s hard to get too much into that. Avoid areas that have a lot of brush piles, beaver dens, or lots of hollow trees to start with. Young dogs are just like kids, if you run too many coons into hollow trees there’s no reward, nothing to play with and they loose interest. With brush piles and beaver dens you stand a chance of getting your dog hurt or worse, especially a young one. I’m not sure how much coon hunting you’ve done in the past, but a coon will drown a dog if you let them get into deep water, like you find around beaver dams. I grew up hunting coons with my grandfather who won tons of awards coon hunting (yes they do have competitions believe it or not, lol). There are so many little things that are so vague anymore because it’s been such a long time since I’ve been out. If I think of anymore tips, all edit this for you.
