What is the best time to hunt rabbits?

I live in north Texas, during winter 25°F-45°F and I’m using bait to lure them in to take the shot.

About a half hour after day break when I’ve always had the most luck.

In KY the best time to get rabbits is now through the end of Jan.

Whenever you can find them. You can’t hunt what cannot be found.

Never heard of any success baiting rabbits. They eat in certain areas so after you kill one or two over a feed pile you could wait days for a new rabbit to move into the area. Rabbits are hunted the old fashion way, on the hoof. On a really cold day you need to walk the brush along the fence lines and ditches. It helps to have a dog to kick them up, because you will walk by some who refuse to run, so keep your eyes open. During this time of year I have hunted them any time during the day, the more brush the more rabbits to find. I did usually combine it with Pheasant hunting when I used to hunt up around Perryton, TX. I like my rabbit Mexican style, crock pot for the day, then take out the bones and mix with green chili sauce, serve with refried beans, Mexican rice and about a hundred tortillas and I am in heaven………Good luck

Never heard of anyone hunting rabbits over bait. You may be the only person alive to be doing that. Why? Because it is pointless. Rabbits have extremely small ranges and odds are you would do just as well sitting near the bait pile as you would hunting them in your living room.
Hunt them with dogs or flush them out by stomping the brush. You could even stalk them in the early morning or late evening. But bait piles? You might get one or two, but that will be it.
