Most breeds pretty specialized. Beagles are good for rabbits, but try to go bird hunting with them, and you’re going to be disappointed. Probably the best choice for an overall mix of fur and feather is the English Springer Spaniel. They flush, so if you’re looking for a pointer they’ll be wrong, but they’ll manage most small game well, and they’re great in the house and with children as well.
Basset Hound ????
depends on what you are hunting for….
Beagles are great for running rabbits, but they are a PIA for deer hunting.
Lots of folks also use Rat Terriers and Fyce Dogs for squirrel.

Beagles are my #1 Choice…The females make a better Hunter than the Males of the Breed… Speaking from personal experience….

Beagles, houns and spanials are great for small games. I use a goldern retriever she is also awesome.
Is more the training and breeding than the dog.
