My husband and i are finally moving out of military housing into an off base civilian home. We want to purchase a handgun to keep in our home. My husband is active duty military and i am civilian. I myself grew up in the rural part of my state (Oklahoma BTW) and so i have been around guns my whole life, rifles, handguns, you name it. I was the only girl in my hunter safety class at 13 yrs old. I am fine with guns and don’t mind keeping one in my home. My husband however is a city kid, grew up in the burbs, and the only gun he’s ever shot was his military issued gun he had to shoot to pass basic training. What would be an appropriate gun for our home? I am going to ask my dad of course because he is a gun guru in my opinion. But i’d like to see what other people have to recommend. Also we are still in Oklahoma BTW, but just in a city area now. Any info is appreciated, please no rude or nasty comments. Thanks.

PS: If it helps we are wanting a handgun, easy enough for both of us to shoot, not too powerful, but not a tiny 22 mind you. it’s been so long since i was around guns and mostly i only used rifles as a kid and teen for deer hunting i really don’t know too much about guns and my husband knows zero. So any info is appreciated.
