Turkish Mauser stipper clips?
ByI finally bought that Turkish Mauser I’ve been talking about. Oh, I got it for $110 incase any of you were wondering. Now, I’ve already got a sling, cleaning kit, ammo pouches, barrel cap, oil bottle, and a bayonet comming from Gunbroker.com. However, I couldn’t figure out which kind of stripper clips it takes. Are they the same as the K98, or the swedish or that old 1888 commision rifle, then there were these brass ones that said they were for the large clip groove. My Mauser is a Turkish M38 chambered in 8mm. Do you know which stripper clip it takes?
Thanks again guys!

A lot of the surplus 8mm ammo you buy in the cans is actually on stipper clips, but they are really bad clips as they are hard as heck to load.
It takes the same clips as the k98k and all other 8mm.

The clips made for the german k98, yugo mausers (M48, M48A, M48BO), czech mausers (98/22, vz24) and turkish mausers (1903/38) and various others (too many to mention all) will work fine . The best are original German 2 piece brass clips. Second best is the Yugo ones that were clipped to ammo in the 15 round boxes. They were 2 piece like the german ones but made of steel instead. If you want to reuse them, provided you don’t leave them outside on the ground too long they shouldn’t rust up on you. The worst I have seen is the one piece Turkish clips. Even though they would be correct to your gun in terms of what was issued, they are poorly made. They are one piece made from brass and have little tabs bent to hold the ammo on them, after a use or 2 the tabs don’t hold ammo too well anymore. Ammo will start falling off the clips as you try to bring it to your clip guide on the receiver. Unfortunately I never had any of the Swedish clips for 6.5X55 swedish so I couldn’t test them in my guns.
The best source for clips would be to watch for some Yugo 15 round boxes of ammo on clips and buy some. I can get the ammo in a nearby gun store for 2.99 a box which has 3 clips. I used to get a better deal when ammunitionstore.com sold it for $49 per 900 round case.
