VAN ZANT: Bike safety is important to remember
I finally purchased a new bike. After 20 years, my trusty mountain bike bit the dust. After surviving 4-5 sets of tires, three overhauls of the gear system, numerous brake jobs and light batteries, my old bike finally has gone by the wayside.

Do you think safety is for sissies?

Posted by: admin | Comments (27)

there should be random claymore mines in the streets. Snipers on every rooftop. You have to get out of “SAW” like death traps every morning to go to work and then when get there you must face a live grenade in a stone circle deathmatch as watch as Hilter, simon cowell, and the devil are the refs. All food contains fecal matter. Everyone IS out to try and kill you. You go hunting with Dick Cheney everyday. They have hooked electrodes up to everything that is metal in the world. The air is slowly being replaced with methane….even the sun is trying its hardest to give you sunburn

Could you live in a world this dangerous?

Gun Safety around a toddler?

Posted by: admin | Comments (19)

All of the guns are in a safe at the in-laws. I have a 4 year old very curious boy. My husband says we have to bring the guns home. There are about 5 rifles and 10 hand guns. I know he knows guns but I really need help. I am anti-gun in my home. I am not against hunting but feel they are a danger to my son and if I ever tried to use one against an intruder I would get the brunt of my own gun. What is the best solution here? It is causing a big fight.
I want to thank you all for the answers. I want to make it clear I am not anti-gun, honestly. I am just scared but I do believe it is our right to bear arms.

I talked with my husband and I am going to take a course as several of you suggested. We are going today to a sporting goods store to pay for the safe, about 4k (but you can’t put a price on safety) and he will bring it home and get it in place with the guys,

I will also try to get my son involved. I didn’t mention he is autistic, not sure if that would have been relevant. But thank you to all of you that answered me seriously.

Gun safety top of mind during hunting season
Soon the province’s woods and marshes will be echoing with the sounds of gunshots as hunters take to the outdoors. And with that increased hunting activity comes increased awareness for the need for firearm safety.[...]

My son was given a ticket for not having a hunter safety course. It was issued @ 8:20 pm while he was sitting in his truck, which was broken down on the side of the road. He and his friend were coming home from a weekend trip, with their fathers and 2 uncles, when he broke down. While waiting for their dads to turn around and come help, the game warden showed up and issued the citation then left. My son is 17 and was with his dad whenever he hunted, is this a justifiable ticket?
I forgot to mention we are in texas and my son only bow hunts, no guns in his truck at all.

In about 6 months i am moving to north Vancouver Island.
In the time that i intend to stay there i plan on hiking, biking, along with other outdoor activities.
North Vancouver island has an abundant amount of Cougars, Brown and Black bears, and now even Grizzly Bears.
My Question is, can you recommend any other precautions in taking to avoid dangerous animal attacks and to stay safe?

When Hiking I Intend to have;

Hiking Backpack with speakers (to listen to music without headphones)
Food for long hikes (animals will possibly smell)
Bear Spray
Survival/hunting knife
GPS
Etc.

Also, My significant other has a Miniature american eskimo dog which she intends to walk through the forest. Just wondering if you also think this is a ridiculous idea…

Thanks for the Mature Input!!
