During the 1950′s in America there was a polio epidemic that was killing alot of people, mostly children. It was at this period that 3 doctors/scientists began trying to come up with various ways of curing the disease. The first of these doctors was Dr. Salk, a man whose medicines were later found ineffective and often resulted in negative side effects.

The other 2 doctors–Doctors Sagan & Kaprowski–were had immigrated from Russia & Germany after being hired by the U.S. government to come up with solutions, as they were one of the more prominent names in medicine at the time.

The prize to who ever came up with a vaccine for polio was enormous, along with getting fame they would receive boat loads of me, and with that in mind, the 2 doctors began a competition to see who would come up with a cure first. Now, to find a cure for polio, both doctors needed to test the effects various medicines would have on people, they could not do this in the U.S. fore 2 reasons;

1) It was illegal to use humans as guinea pigs for lab experiments (atleast if they were white)

2) Dr. Salk had already immunized large portions of the American population

So the 2 doctors decided to go outside America to test their vaccines. Dr. Sagan went to Russia, and Dr. Kaprowski went to Africa.

Long story short, Dr. Sagan’s vaccine proved effective in immunizing the children of some Easern European countries–Latvia, Estonia, etc., and it became the vaccine that we use today to treat it

____________________________________________

Dr. Kaprowski , on the other hand, in creating his vaccine, was careless about the methods he used. Part of his soluition involved using chimp DNA and incorporating it into his medicine, unfortunately for him (and eventually for about 70% of Africa) his solution was infected with the chimp equivalent of what we now know as HIV/AID’s, but Dr. Kaprowski could care less about making sure ke didn’t kill the patients he tested on —he was seeking money, fame, & glory.

So, with the help of the U.S. government , & the WHO he administered a virus (which he told the citizens of Burundi, Rwanda, & the Congo) was a vaccine for polio, to 1,000, 000 people.

The rest is history, the AID’s virus spread like wild fire throughout those regions, and eventually into other surrounding countries as well.

Now, there are alternate theories that suggest that a man had either fornicated with a monkey, cut himself while cleaning a monkey, or been bitten by a monkey and that is how the various came about. What this theory fails to explain is why the AID’s virus never developed until polio vaccinations were given by American doctors to Africans, since humans have hunted & eaten monkeys (chimps) for hundreds (if not thousands) of years. Today the epicenter of the disease is in those regions where Dr. Kaprowski administered his vaccinations to Africans, and today–50 years later–70% of the continent has the terminal illness, and 100, 000, 000 children are expected to die from it by the end of the century

I’ve just been curious. I find that my dogs’ breed has a very interesting history and I’d like to learn about other breeds.

My 3: (I have Hungarian Vizslas)
1: They are a very old breed that was bred to hunt/point, but also lived inside with the family as a companion dog.
2: A male Vizsla was the first ever AKC Triple Champion.
3: They almost became extinct following the 2 World Wars.
I meant specifically about their breed, not them personally lol.

If we were doing that, my list would have included: “has distinctive odor, hogs the bed, and expects Christmas presents” lol

Why do people still believe in god? I mean there is literally no DIFFERENCE between god and Santa Claus. No one has even seen god and billions believe he exists. I’m guessing the reason is this: kids are brain-washed when they are very young by their parents, thus resulting in thinking god is real.

“everything was made by god”, a famous quote by the average religious retard
Evolution is evidence god is fake. Truth is, all living organisms evolved over time and the first living thing on Earth was most likely bacteria. I mean how f-ing stupid are “christians, jews, mormons, ect”. The religious think that “all of the animals and plants magically appeared out of nowhere”. WOW just wow. If you believe that then, maybe pigs will fly someday too.

Imagine a world with no Osama bin Laden, Adolf Hitler, and Nero. Imagine a world without priests, rabbis, imams, and monks. Imagine a world with no witch-hunts, no inquisitions, no human sacrifices, and no crusades. Imagine a world without temples, churches, and mosques.

Imagine.

When you trace every war that has been waged here on earth, you will find that almost all of them was a result of a religious conflict. The Muslim Conquests, the French War of Religion, the Crusades, and the Reconquista.

When 9/11 happened, Muslim extremists from all over the world rejoiced as the blood of the innocent flows in the name of Allah. In world war II, millions of Muslims and Jews has been killed just because they subscribe to a different belief.

Religion feeds upon the weak, the poor, and the ignorant. It seems to give hope to the hopeless but when you look at it closely, its helping people to live a lie.

BOTTOM LINE IS, WHY DO YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?

I’ve recently become intrigued with ghost hunting, because I’ve always felt sensations of being watched or not being alone whenever I am in my house alone at night. That coupled with some recent ghost hunting shows has fueled my imagination, and now I am attempting to find evidence of spiritual activity in my house. Only, I’m hesitating because I’m not really sure what I’m getting myself into, and I don’t want to get cursed into oblivion or anything like that. Does anyone have any tips or advice? Thanks in advance. If I do find spiritual activity in my house I’ll probably never sleep easy again, but I’ve always felt this presence and I feel like I should investigate, for curiosity’s sake.

I am seriously considering this breed. If you own one or know someone who does what can you tell me about them? Yes, I researched and read, so links to breed characteristics are not needed. Just wondering from a personal standpoint. I have ample acreage and ample time to train efficiently. Not a concern. I have no problem with starting a puppy correctly and properly socializing along with being that “leader” I have no problems handling a giant breed and have worked with/trained other strong bully breeds and Mastiffs.

My concerns lies in this…we have barn cats and pigs…is this a breed that will be known to hunt and kill “small game” naturally? Or thru obedience, exercise, and socialization will ignore these factors of our life? We live on a farm, obviously. Is this a breed I will have to be concerned about when ppl pull into the yard? I like the intimidating look but would prefer a dog that could care less, maybe a bit more aloof and watchful? I certainly don’t want a 130# dog begging for attention either. Is this breed SPASY…let me define spasy…I consider a Boxers, APBTetc to project this happy & spasy type personality. I am looking for a fairly laid back, BIG dog, with minimal grooming requirements, that bonds tightly with its family, gentle with children (aside from the obvious HUGE puppy knockover haha) possibly a bit aloof around strangers but can be defined as “safe” for the most part with necessary socialization etc. Something confident yet displays some protectiveness, which is a bit different to me than natural aggression…A dog that learns to be watchful yet respects its handler and desires to be close. Willfull at times is ok to begin with but once leadership is established I want a dog to be in tune to me and work to please. This would be a HOUSE dog and not an outdoor dog and the dog would indeed travel with us when we go places, more than likely follow along on horseback rides etc. Rarely left home alone. We do not have a real social house just the family usually.

Ok and lastly. From what I understand this is typically a fairly healthy breed. Aside from Penn hip scores on parents etc. What other things should factor in when seeking out a breeder? When looking for a breed of dog like this, that is oftentimes bred with no relevance to personality traits of the parents…what things should I be watching for and aware of to ensure the puppy would be mentally stable? Male vs female? Is there significant differences in the sex of this breed? I tend to be drawn to females in my younger years (due to the more serious nature I found in female dogs) but certainly would be open to either sex. I find males, in general, are best for families with children, as boys retain some playful antics a bit longer whereas females can become a bit lazy. Does this hold true with this breed?

After reading that…is there any other breeds you can think of that would also fit this profile?
Curtis…Thank you and much agreed Was my worry
Fadin Reign…Thanks for the touching story Don’t know a farm dog yet that doesn’t LOVE to steal the horns or a farm cat that isn’t waiting around for a snack at castration time LOL>

Curtis…So then WHAT breed sounds like it would suit the purpose I am looking for and would be a bit easier to find a good breeder?
Lioness~ Thank you for that info. Gosh darn it, they are just gorgeous! Pet mainly, I am looking for. I have no desire to compete with the dog however, would be looking to get a CGC and all that stuff to prove it is a well rounded pooch. Possibly continue some therapy work. Overall family companion tho I would put the dog to work pulling our children on walks Being a former breeder myself I realize a wait is imminent. Thinking in a couple years, therefore researching now. SO TRUE about finding a good breeder tho. Man, I have emailed MANY MANY breeders to not even get a reply back. I think my questions must intimidate:)

hi, i have some hunting land in Tuttle, OK. its about five acres and it has a creek running through the middle. on the west side of my land there is a wheat field but it is owned by the neighbor with no fence separating my land from his. i haven’t really hunting the land hardcore yet. but last season i did hunt it a few times. i dint have a trail camera but i have seen hundreds of deer tracks on his land right next to the tree line. (also some down in the creek bottom) i need a way to get the deer from his land over to my land. but i don’t want to spook the deer from mine. i also need some tips on treestand placement, where to put a feeder, how to get into the stand without spooking the deer, etc. (any tips on bowhunting are welcome)
