Should whale hunting be banned if they are not endangered?
ByAn argument from some people is that “whales are intelligent, therefore we should not hunt them”. Does this mean we should treat retarded people like sh-it and 4.0 students like God? Because we eat pigs and cows and they are not smart.

They are endangered..so your point is moot. Who says pigs and cows are not intelligent!

Whales are highly intelligent, like dogs.
Pigs are actually quite smart too; but they’re not endandered.

Of course! If they don’t ban that the whales will become endangered. Whales are very intelligent. They don’t do any harm to us than why should we hunt them. It is totally wrong!!!!!!!

It doesn’t matter if they are endangered or not, we will make them endangered if they aren’t already
Whales are hunted just like they have always been hunted, except the population of human beings is increasing much faster the the population of whales
The demand for whales is much higher then there reproduction rate, people don’t care if they are intelligent animals, they just hunt them
And for places like Japan, try and think about why most of there food is seafood, it is much harder to run a farm for geographical reasons, and a whale is a easy target to use to feed the population, of course if more people became vegetarian this would become less of a problem
There is no real answer to this problem except vegetarianism, or doing something about this population problem, but these are options that no one wants to think about
I am sorry for this sort of answer, but we have to look at this realistically if we want to tackle this problem, we can all have a cry about what this is doing, but that is not going to do anything, we need to look for a solution, and banning is only going to piss people off, not solve the problem

If a whale can learn English or create their own Constitution, than we Americans should not hunt them. We have no right though to tell or make laws for Japan or other countries on what they can or can not hunt. This is what starts wars. These groups out there that are molesting Japan s whale hunters will soon find them selves on the bottom of the ocean, and I hope soon. At least they would if I was the Captain of a whaling ship.

Rick brings up an interesting point of view, in terms of sticking our noses into other counties’ business. Municipalities have to abide by all the laws of the state. The federal government makes laws to control what the states do. We had a big war about that, remember? Similarly, the international community has to take action to control what individual countries do. Countries that relied heavily on whaling were allowed to continue hunting whales for “research”. This has been used as an excuse for whaling to make money. Perhaps it’s time to demand that something worth the lives of all these animals be published.
As far as the way we treat the 4.0 students, be nice. You will be working for one of them some day.

Oh yes, Rick, we should and we will tell other countries what they are allow to do with the wildlife of the planet. It is NOT their wildlife for it belongs to the entire humanity. That is why people from the past generation, who lived through harder times got together and created the UN. And yes, if some country misbehave we will rightfully tell them so.
During modern era, people found themselves in the need to change professions for some ones have disappeared. Hunters have to find another one. And soon we will include fishermen on the list of disappearing professions for will be very few fish to catch.

leave the whales alone.. to many deer, boar, turkey and other wild game which are plentiful that you can hunt
