I wouldn’t. Buckshot is for deer, since it has a wide spread and once you make the first shot, all the wild boar are going to start running. Then it’s going to be hard to hit them. And if you try and get too close then they’ll start moving before you fire the first round. It would be a better bet to use any rifle that uses a .30 caliber cartridge or higher. Slugs are also not accurate enough so I wouldn’t use those either, that will only cause the animals to suffer.
it was mainly made for hunting deer, not wild boar you would be better of using a rifle because you do not want to be charged by one of these they do bite back unlike a deer, 25 caliber or bigger
A slug would be a better choice. Either a rifled slug in a smoothbore or a sabot slug out of a rifled barrel.
I hate when I hit one too far back, with a rifle or revolver, and that’s all too easy to do on hogs. A pellet in the guts, and you’re washing for a while. Also, you may not get a good quick stop. I think you’ll do a lot better to use slugs.
I wouldn’t recommend you use buckshot on a feral hog. It may not provide sufficient penetration and do enough damage at longer ranges to drop a large hog. You’d be better off using deer slugs (either Foster or Bernecke slugs) since they’ll deliver a lot more punch out past 30-40 yards. Other than that, it sounds like you have what should be a very effective set-up for wild boar/feral hogs.
