Does anyone where layers of clothes with a regular jacket and then just slip a large camo shirt on top of this? I need to get camo, but I don’t want to have to buy the expensive coats.

i would get a coat its the best deal and really keeps u a lot warmer
Get a cheap camo jacket and shirt. Walmart has cheap shirts and pants. and if you have a Hamricks they have cheap Jackets. hope this helps.
You don’t need to buy all the camo gear they sell. A “larger than your sized” camo t-shirt on top of your layers of undershirts, fleece or jacket is fine.
Actually, if you’re hunting deer, the most important thing is to just break up your outline. Deer or like dogs and are color blind so they don’t see in the light spectrum we see in so they don’t distinguish between greens, browns, black, ect….
Just wear something that is not all one constant print so that you cannot be silhouetted, such as plad.
I don’t know how cold it gets where you hunt, but if you already have cold weather gear that is NOT camo’d, there is no problem wearing what you are already comfortable with and then covering that with some extra large or extra-extra large camo shirt or windbreaker that will fit without restricting your movements. The same applies to the pants. If you have a snow-suit, or quilted underwear, feel free to add to that combination a regular pair of camo pants or bib-overalls to top them off in an inexpensive style of camo that best suits your needs. I am a professional outdoorsman in Alaska, but I have to agree with you that a lot of the best looking cold-weather gear is also pretty high priced, even for me. Your idea is not new, and won’t be shrugged off by most outdoors folks who have to content themselves with a limited budget. As long as you are warm and dry on the inside, it matters little what you wear on the outside. It’s not a fashion show. Right? I have even draped myself in a shroud of fabric bought at a dry-goods store for three or four dollars a yard. Some of it is outstanding. Great patterns. Some of it is also Polar Fleece which means “cozy warm”. Experiment. I have no doubt that you will find several options that will serve you well. Go for it and good luck!
Bottom line……..you do not need camo. Just break up your outline using surrounding vegetation and terrain. You can wear neon pink and take deer all season long. Keep your movement to a minimum and you will be fine.
The shirt is fine though, if that is what you want to do.
go to army navy surplus or good will find good used gear fair price get aviator or navy foul weather gard, wool gloves loose fit good neck tog warmloose boots and woolies stand on carpet helps stay out wool britches ,thats lt and cuts wind for bad temps
The best solution is to buy a nice waterproof camo poncho that fits over your existing clothing.
The poncho is under rated. Nothing beats it in the rain. In a survival situation you can stay warm in it all night, or, use it to make a makeshift tent. It is qutie useful.
Hope this helps
That would work if you’re on a budget. I have camo jackets, but you could easily wear some regular ski jacket with a camo shirt over it.
