my dogs eyes are dialated and smells and wont eat?
ByOkay so what i need to know is what are things to look for if my dog is sick. Right now she has dilated eyes and wont eat. She is a yellow lab and 3 years old. In the last 2 weeks she has all the sudden gotten really bulky and bigger. She has a lot more muscle. We walk her and play fetch with her everyday but sitll we have been playing with her for 3 years and she has never grown any muscle. Should that be a concern or no. Also we have switched her feeding from instead of in the morning to the evening to train her to listen better and hunt too. She hasnt been hunting in about 6 months and we cant take her to the vet. Is there anything i can do to make sure she is not sick and if so what can i do at home

if she isnt eating then that’s a first sign of her being sick. btw have your checked her dog to food to see if it has been recalled?

Unless you know what’s wrong with her, you can’t help her. Dilated eyes and not eating are serious symptoms. The only way to help her is to get her to vet.

What do you mean you can’t take her to a vet? Is someone pointing a gun at you and telling you not to take her to a vet? If not, then get to a vet and have her checked.

I found an article online that talks about things to watch for if you think your pet is sick. It’s at

I am very concerned about the “sudden gotten really bulky and bigger”!! I do not think this is a muscle or normal weight gain you are describing. I highly suspect she is retaining water which could signal kidney failure. What you are feeling as muscle may be fluid collecting in the tissues and is very serious.
This is not a “home remedy” board here. If not possible this weekend then get her seen at the vet Monday for sure. You can not treat this at home. A dog does not put on muscle all of a sudden. Have you checked out the food recall list to see if she has had the bad foods, list has been expanded and not all the answers to this mess have been resolved. You do know about the pet food recall?
If she is in kidney failure or whatever she is in pain. Not a pleasant death as the body systems fail and shut down.

Can’t take her to the vet????? I can only hope that you get just as ill, and nobody can get you medical treatment, so that you are left to suffer like your dog.
