ARIZONA SUPREME COURT REJECTS APPEAL OF VIGILANTE RANCHER WHO ATTACKED U.S. CITIZENS ON ARIZONA BORDER
The Morales family and Emma English, a family friend, filed suit after Barnett confronted them on state leased land, while they were on a family hunting trip. Armed with a semi-automatic military-style assault rifle, Barnett held the family at gunpoint, cursed and screamed racial slurs at them and threatened to kill them all. The jury heard the testimony of three young girls, all under the age of 12 at the time, that vividly described the event and the trauma they suffered at the hands of Barnett. The jury ultimately awarded the family $100,000 in damages, which Barnett must pay now that the Supreme Court has rejected his appeal.
These people are LEGAL CITIZENS!

Doesn’t seem the ILLEGALS were on their land as well. Definitely more of the U.S. citizen’s land then theirs.They shouldn’t have received monetary damages, only a free trip back to their home.
You can bet if the government does not step up and do something, more citizens will feel backed into a corner and this type of action will increase.

I haven’t heard Mr. Barnett’s side of the story so I can not judge who was right. But I have heard of many depredations on the lands of people living near the border so he may have had cause to be nasty. Conflict always results in bad feeling. When that conflict is centered on one race or religion we tend to go overboard in our feeling toward that group. Racism is never okay, but I can understand someone who uses their race to criticize their behavior even when it is misplaced..

Yes it is, American citizens are sick and tired of watching illegals suck our country dry this is especially true if you live in a border state such as California I for one am getting sick and tired of them and yes in may ways i feel as though i am becoming racist even though my best friends are Mexican. It is as though they are a different breed that is coming over the border now and they are having babies which are being raised with the same cheat to win mentality.

Seems to me that Barnett is as cold hearted and ignorant as most of the people that have answered your question.
He was obviously being a bigot. I could maybe understand it if they had been on his land, although he did go too far, but he obviously thought he was dealing with people who he thought would never put up a fight. I’m so glad they did! Now they are $100,000.00 richer and he has to GET OVER IT!!!!!

It is a strong indicator; Barnett should have been charged with kidnapping. You can’t judge a person by their appearance.
Three thumbs down from three people who think it is okay to hold children who are U.S. Citizens at gunpoint simply because they have brown skin. I find these types of people disgusting.

If they are Americansthen no, it shouldn’t have happened. I don’t think any illegals should have any rights, and it is because of them that there is so much racism against Mexicans. I am surrounded by a bunch of these illegal Mexicans who seem to have 20 members in their f***. households. They are rude and think we owe them! I am so sick of it. Our public school went downhill when the Mexicans started going to the school. Why should everything be “hit 1 for English, 2 for Spanish”. Learn our language. You want to be here, learn to read and understand English. Fly your flag UNDER the American Flag. You want respect and understanding, then respect America!!!!!!!

These ranchers put up with their cattle being slaughter, fences cut, litter and their homes broken into and human waste. Then there are also the armed drug runners. I can understand his defensive position.
