Is this ethical to do this? Baiting question for wolf hunting?
ByIn Montana they opened up a wolf season this year. You cannot use bait or use electronic game calls. I was wondering if you were coyote hunting and you were using bait and electronic calls which is legal. A wolf walks in to check it out and you have a wolf tag. Do you shoot the wolf?

I wouldn’t… if you went for coyote huntin’, you’d better stick to coyotes.

That’s like asking if you can shoot a turkey in during squirrel season. Here in Missouri the answer is no.

Well, you said that you cannot use bait or calls for wolves, but you can coyotes, so if a wolf walked up, it’d be illegal to shoot it because of what was used to bring it in.

Well, as much as I hate wolves, I would like to say yes, Kill it. But, if you are caught with coyote calling gear and possessing a wolf you shot, I’m guessing there will be troubles. There is no wolf season here in Wisconsin, but I think I might know the directions of a couple missing wolves. F the wolves.

Shooting over bait with a electronic caller would be the charge. It it was me I would use a dead coyote as bait. Not your fault if a dead coyote is just laying around…..or a dead bunny.

I shoot everything that wanders into my sights. Let God sort ‘em out.

In my state, you would be in violation simply for hunting coyotes over bait during wolf season. You wouldn’t have to shoot a wolf to be in violation.
Why do you want to shoot a wolf anyway? They really don’t taste that good.

no you just said it’s illegal to do so and you also get in more trouble if the wolf is out of season, bad idea friend.

Bang… Nail the wolf.
No-one has to know you have the Coyote calls… throw em’ into your rucksack and be done with it.
I hate Wolves and Coyotes… too much like feral dogs running loose in the woodland.
