Is there a good place to find geodes in Tennessee?
ByNot with a bulldozer and backhoe. Basic rock hunting.
Or anyplace nearby?
I guess I should be more specific. We would like to go rock hunting and find our own geodes. I know they can be found in streams and riverbeds near limestone deposits but we don’t know where that would be. Has anyone out there found some of their own and know a good place to look?

well if you are looking for limestone go to Limestone, Tennessee. Trust me there is a real place. i live about 50 mins from there. it is near greeneville tennessee. if you are going to look up greeneville make sure you put in the extra e after greene
anyway there are huge limestone caves there. some of them are so nice! however limestone, tennessee is in the far east so if you live more west than knoxville then i suggest you fly.
plus if you cae for more than rocks some history is found in limestone and greeneville. limestone is david crocket’s birthplace and greeneville is the home of nathaniel greene and president andrew johnson
seriously this area is beautiful so you should come and visit
now i feel like i am advertising! LOL

Dekalb and Cannon counties are well known for geodes. In Dekalb county Dry Creek just outside of Dowelltown is filled with them as well as Smithfork River on the opposite side of town. The Stones River in Cannon county just outside of Woodbury is also a great place to look. There are also many to be found in Gassaway near the Dekalb and Cannon county line! Good luck!
