In Canada, specifically Alberta… regarding the Firearms Safety Courses.?

What is involved in the practical portion of the examination? I have never fired or even touched a gun in my life, yet I wish to start hunting, and shooting seems to be a good activity to get into… and I also want to be a gun owner. I also intend to get the restricted license for handguns.

you have tp show how to safely clear a firearm. Generally a rifle it is for non-restricted and a handgun for restricted. I took the test a few years ago and only fired a 22 once. I did fine so will you

    Canada ROCKS!

When I took it you looked at a few cartridges on a table and answered some questions about them. Like which one is rimfire, which one has a slug and what is this one.

Then you run through the safe handling of different kinds of guns(bolt, break, semi auto, lever and pump). If you remember ACTS and PROVE this should be no problem. If you are not sure about what to do with a particular gun you can probably ask for help without failing. Depending on where you take it it could be done with live ammo that you shoot down range or de-activated firearms and dummy rounds.

The restricted test is basically the same but with a semi auto handgun and a revolver. The written test has a lot of questions that are identical to the non-restricted test.

Pretty much the only way to fail is to point the gun at someone.
