Ducks are funny at times, had a friend who had a light blue metal roof installed on his cabin. I always broke a hole in the ice or look for a hole where the wind or tide has drifted the tide from the shore. You will need flat bottom decoys for ice or build a little box under the decoy and around the keel from some 2x2's and paint it black or camo or decoy color. If you break a hole in the ice drop your decoys in......try to push the chunks under the ice to make clear water or scope the ice out. I have heard of the black tarp. But I'll try the black tarp thing too! sounds alot easier!
