How Does A Non-Violent Missouri Ex-Felon get gun rights back?

By

I was convicted of some felonies back in 1996, and 1998 to which none of them were violent (forgery/bad checks) I haven’t been on Parole or Probation for quite some time and have a remarkable record since being released May of 2003, I know someone who was an Ex-Felon and he has gun rights, so I know it can be done , I asked him but he wont help me, so someone please help me, I married a woman 5 years ago and she (we) have two sons and I want to teach them how to hunt.

Thank you for helping me in this matter, Have a Blessed day. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Shane

If it were up to me, you’d get all of your rights back the day you finished serving the last of your sentences. Rehabilitation means nothing without eventually ending the punishment and letting someone have a new start.

However, society is down on offenders and tends to punish and brand folks forever.

Maybe you should talk to a lawyer. Could “expungment” be a possibility?

Check with the State Law enforcement Division there , I had a Friend who was a convicted felon , he got his back , here in SC if it was a non violent offense you can pay a little money ( 125.00 per offense( or close to that price ) and have your record expunged..Here the wait is 5 years on non violent ….

So call them and ask them the qualifications for getting your record expunged …and follow their directions , believe it or not , they will help you do this ……
