Some horse play got me; what looked pretty serious gash from the elbow to just above the wrist..my bud..along w/ some tutoring stitched it right up, years later you can barely tell there was a cut there..better than many doctor’s work. I might recommend a shot of something..remember alcohol will promote bleeding..so be responsible now..lol

I got a real good chuckle from the ending comment. Priceless :-)
By the way, I used to keep tiny tubes or bottles of Orajel or similar tooth or gums de-sensitizer, or benzocaine, handy for emergencies. It is amazing how much pain they can reduce in small area, especially when you have to close something up, or cut something off.

PS– I am NOT giving medical advice. I am NOT a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. I only stated what I have done for use in a pinch.

I really can’t wait to suture myself some day. It is such a valuble skill to have and I just know there will come a day I will have to do it. I imagine one can practice on a thawed turkey that you buy from the store… just save some of the skin for suture practice :D

That healed up amazingly well. When I saw the suture video I kept cringing when i saw the needle flopping around touching everything in sight, seems that the iodine did it’s job.

I got really weak watching you stitch yourself up, but it’s good to know when push comes to shove, we really can take care of ourselves. I agree with the rest, you heal fast!! Now I know to get some smaller needles for my kit. Thanks. You’re one tough cookie!

seems a rude and not sterile way but weel done ;)

    CH-eers from Switzerland!

  12. MrStorky14 says:

that healed quickly. wen i cut my finger open mine didn’t heal like yours for over a week

  13. mnthunter88 says:

Dave, it never crossed my mind that it would’nt heal………….So did you clean iris’s kitchen up before she got home ?

  14. haha48 says:

Well in my school they taught you as part of pe how to fight someone with a knife as a self defence class 1 week later someone tried to rob me with a knife and yep skills worked well..

  15. 803honda says:

the federals that run the school system dont want you to be able to read a compass or survive on your own.

  16. WFJacoby says:

Once my doctor told me to put super glue on a cracked toe. He said it was not toxic, and it seemed to work okay for me. It is kinda like liquid band aid.

  17. ncn8ochaser says:

not to mention, most people look at a compass like a monkey doing a math problem. it’s not something taught in school ya know? i do agree though.

  18. ROFLpwnedvideos says:

Dude, after 3 days….you’re healing BETTER than I’ve seen “professionally” sutured wounds heal.
    Awesome.

    Bag any deer?

  19. maybexx says:

Dave, you are hardcore. I hope someday to be as badass as you.

  20. otter46544 says:

That is fantastic that you healed so well. This is something I could not do. If needed I could let someone else sew me but I couldnt even watch when you did it. Just not my thing. Its like giving blood. As long as I look the other way im fine with the pain.

  21. preachkjv says:

My family just decided that you are THE MAN!

  22. lusl1094 says:

Dave I am really glad that I was wrong. I am happy that it healed well. No matter what I would still advise against it.

  23. haha48 says:

If your lost in the bush no way out ok then its ok.. but if your on a trail and can walk out or get rescuse its a bad idea… If you go perpared into the bush you should almost always have a way out.. simple compas and map can save you.. most people only take a gps it gets wet or the battreys die because its left on and you screwed..
