Dog the bounty hunter got arrested along with leland and tim for catching andrew luster in mexico?
fked up thing when you are doing something the governments cannot do by bringing in a guilty dude ……As a fan of Dog the Bounty Hunter, you may have heard his name in the
news recently and we wanted to fill you in on the details.
Dog, Leland and Tim Chapman were taken into custody by U.S. Marshals
early Thursday morning in connection with charges stemming from their
2003 arrest of convicted serial rapist, Andrew Luster.
Andrew Luster, the famed heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune, was
convicted of drugging and raping three women over a four year span.
During his trial in 2003, Luster fled the country to Mexico.
In June 2003, Dog and his team tracked the fugitive Luster in Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico, where he was living under an alias, and arrested
him. As bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, Dog, Tim and Leland
were arrested by the Mexican authorities and Luster was handed over to
the United States government by the Mexicans. He was subsequently
found guilty and is currently serving a 124 year prison sentence.
Bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, and Dog, Tim and Leland were
arrested by the Mexican authorities. After being released on bail,
Dog, his family and team, returned to Hawaii and to their lives as
bounty hunters.
Yesterday at 6:00am, U.S. Marshals stormed Dog’s home and took him
into custody. They then did the same to Leland and Tim. The three
are being held in Honolulu where they will face an extradition hearing
to Mexico. There will be a hearing in Hawaii today at 3:00pm local
time. At that point we will have more details to share with you.
As we have more news we will post it to www.aetv.com
it may be against the law in mexico to do such things but what does that say about mexico?? they send their criminals here and take ours???wow

I heard that yesterday. I am a fan too. I think it’s pretty messed up but the law is the law. No one is above it.
that is so stupid.i haven’t heard very much at all,but let them go on with there life’s.
I love the dog.
Talk about messed up !!!
Just doing a job that no one else would do.
Thanx for the info !!!!
I’m a big fan of him AND his family !!!
I understand that in Dog’s line of work, there are many gray areas regarding the law. I recently read where Dog falsely apprehended an innocent individual, thereby embarassing him publicly on an episode that was allowed to air without explanation of the incident. Now, Dog has, himself, disobeyed the law. Good deed or not, he should have gone to Mexico for the court date that he missed regarding this situation. He has no excuse for his actions, and must pay the penalty, just like he preaches to his bounties.
It is a pretty fuckkked up thing when a rapist is given more rights than a law abiding good citizen. The law is really wrong here. I am very upset over this and I hope they will be released soon.
Duane Chapman has spent the past several years preaching ad nauseam about how important it is to respect the law whether you agree with it or not. He can take his own advice on this one. Whatever anyone thinks of Mexico’s laws or policies, Dog captured Luster there and refused to turn him over to Mexican authorities. That is not legal. It is also not legal to post bail and then miss a court date. I believe he makes a living televising himself forcing other people to adhere to the law, and he can do the same.
Pretty stupid – but he should not have missed that court date.
The Mexican government is just trying to show off. I think the judge in Hawaii who issued the warrant should have at least let Dog, Tim and Leland come in instead of sending US Marshalls to break down their doors at 6AM. On the A&E website there is an interview with Beth Chapman that tells exactly what happen. We need to stand up and help defend the DOG, he did what US Marshalls, FBI etc couldn’t do.
I love Dog, especially Leland. They did a great thing by capturing Luster. I also agree with someone’s comment I read that said if they had alerted Mexican officials, they would have made sure Dog ‘just missed him.’ With all the money Luster has I’m sure he paid Mexican officials to keep him safe. God bless Dog for doing it the ‘right’ way. It’s a shame to charge him and his team of any wrongdoing.
HONOLULU – TV reality star Duane “Dog” Chapman and two co-stars on his show were arrested Thursday in Hawaii on charges of illegal detention and conspiracy in the bounty hunters’ capture three years ago of a cosmetics company heir.
Chapman, son Leland Chapman and associate Timothy Chapman were taken into custody and did not resist arrest, said Mark Hanohano, U.S. Marshal for the district of Hawaii. “It went down without incident,” Hanohano said.
Mona K. Wood, a publicist for the star of the popular cable series “Dog The Bounty Hunter,” said Chapman would be vindicated. “He arrests the bad guys — and he is definitely not one of them,” she said.
The charges stem from Chapman’s capture of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster on June 18, 2003, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, said Marshals spokeswoman Nikki Credic in Washington.
Chapman’s capture of Luster, who had fled the country while on trial on charges he raped three women, catapulted the 53-year-old bounty hunter to fame and led to the reality series on A&E.
Chapman, shackled at his ankles and wearing a blue muscle T-shirt at his first court appearance Thursday, said the government was jealous of his success in hunting down criminals.
“You see what the American government is doing to us? They throw us in jail,” Chapman said in a federal courtroom. “I’m so upset about this.”
The three are being held in Honolulu. Bail has not been set. They will face an extradition hearing to Mexico under terms of treaties between the U.S. and Mexico, Credic said.
Chapman’s son Leland, 29, and Timothy Chapman, 41, no relation, assist Chapman in exploits chronicled for the TV show around the Hawaiian Islands. The show focuses on Chapman’s family as much as the bounty hunting, which generally involves tracking down bail jumpers, often creating emotional scenes with repentant captives.
Charges have been pending against the three since local police in Mexico arrested them shortly after they roped in Luster. They posted bail but never returned to Puerto Vallarta for their court hearing on July 15, 2003, Credic said.
Mexican authorities demanded that the Chapmans transfer Luster to Mexican police. Their refusal to do so led to their initial arrest.
A U.S. warrant for their arrest was signed by a federal judge in Honolulu on Wednesday.
Chapman’s wife, Beth, said he didn’t do anything wrong.
“If Duane has to return to Mexico to take care of any misunderstanding, then that’s what he will do,” she said outside the courthouse.

Duane Dog Chapman captured a rapist who terrorized women and was about to do the same thing in Mexico.
He never received the bounty for his capture of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, but he is proud of his accomplishments.
Luster’s victims said Chapman gave them their lives back – and there would have been many more future victims had Duane not put an end to it all. Again, many thanks for your support!
Please pass this on and let’s send a message out there that doing the right thing should not be punished, but rewarded! Please email Alberto Gonzales at and ask them to drop all warrants against Duane, Leland his son, and Tim Chapman.

my answer to this is that the dumb mother f*cker should practice what he preaches…..MAKE SURE HIS LIFE IS IN ORDER BEFORE HE STARTS F*CKING AROUND IN OTHER PEOPLES LIVES…….THERE GOES THAT SHOWS CREDIBILITY IN MY EYES…..WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK THEY ARE!!!!!!
I am not thrilled any time decent AMERICANS are about to succumb to the will of an outside govt! The Chapmans were doing the right thing! Luster is a horrible rapist and nobody should do anything to help him. Free the Chapmans! If the Mexican govt had extridited Luster, no one would be in this situation! It burns me that Mexico thinks we should extend them the extridition priveledge, but they won’t do it for US!
