Do some domestic dogs kill small animals and eat them like cats do or they just kill it and don’t eat it?

I heard dogs kill squirrels, rabbits, birds, and rodents depending on the size and breed and what the dog is breed for.Can domestic dogs hunt to eat?

Usually with high prey drive dogs, some dogs don’t do anything at all when they see a small animal. Usually the kill will be eaten. Some dogs are even trained to kill them but not eat them.
Yah i think most domestic dogs do, unless they are trained not to. Or at least they could. I know my dog has attacked birds and bugs. But no they dont eat it when theyre done.
Of course they will kill and eat a smaller prey animal. If our Husky were to ever get ahold of a cat, he would certainly kill it and eat it if someone missed the fact he had managed to even catch one. The only cat he will protect and simply play with, is our own cat.
I would think that if a domestic dog were lost and out fending for himself, he would do what nature dictates and kill and eat his prey. It’s just natural instinct to survive.
well duh! of course they can!!!! I coonhunt, you turn your hounds loose, they tree a coon, you shoot it in the butt to knock it out of the tree, and then they fight it and kill it for you! It’s so fun! And ya my rottie and dane are loose at our farm and they bring in rabbits and stuff to eat on all the time.
Dogs and cats are still very much in touch with their natural instincts. Dogs will eat something they kill if they really need to. Generally when a dog kills something, they do plan on eating it, not like a cat who will just kill because they think it is fun. Cats won’t eat something they kill if they would rather have (and have access to) cat food. Same with a dog, I think. I’ve never seen a dog kill something and not eat it without a human intervening…
a few days ago my dog killed crow, and ate like half of it ( i removed it)
my other dog kill rats occasionally, but he never eats them
