Do I need to have my hunter education verification in order to get a hunter’s license?
ByI cannot find my hunter’s education verification and I am going with my brother to Ohio tomorrow. I am a non-resident, living in Indiana, and I am 15 years old. I will be hunting with my older brother who is 26, and he has a hunter’s license with Ohio already. Do I need to have the hunter’s education if I want to shoot a turkey? Do I need to have it if I just want to go with him but not shoot at anything? Also, what other things will I need to get my license (such as birth certificate, ect.)?

If you go with him and not shoot, you do not need one. If you plan on shooting one, you’ll need a license.

Now don’t quote me, but I’m pretty sure you’ll be okay as long as you get an Ohio non-resident license when you come here. You can get those anywhere where they sell hunting gear. Just when you go to buy them, tell them you lost it. They should be able to look you up in the system (as long as you had license last year.. or you took your class this year). I lost mine, and they let me get mine this year. I just had to pay to renew my license and for my turkey tags.
Good luck with your hunt! Hopefully you get a big gobbler “)
P.S. Stay away from Bethel area if you are still in Ohio on Sunday! That’s when I’ll be out, hopefully to get my first bird! Haha I’m just playing about staying away, but I really am going out for my third time turkey hunting on Sunday. Good luck though “)
