deer hunting shotgun help?
I am 13 and goign hunting up in Main for 10 days next november with myy uncle and cousin. i do not have a gun but i am planing on going hunting often and am going to need a gun. I know i am going to get a 12 gauge (do not comment sayign its too big for me…im 135 pnds i can handle it and ive been to the range a bunch and shot 200+ 12 gauge rounds at clay pigeons) so i want to know…what would b a nice gun for around 400$ that if possible looks kinda cool that is blacked out (idk maby all guns can b like that if i get that custom ordered) i want a pump action gun b.t.w i was looking at the mossberg 500 or a remmington but idk…anyway ill be hunting dear and pheasant postly maby a lil turkey so if a gun is good foor all around stuff that would be awsome (btw i do not use slug if that matters)
i use buck shot…which will kill a dear thats what my cuz used to kill a 9 point buck and a 7 point buck and my uncle uses it every time he goes and kills a buck every time with buckshot

Your not going to kill a deer if you don’t plan on using a slug. But either the Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 will fill your needs just fine. The 500 comes in black but I’m not sure about the 870.
You are completely right about the buckshot, I just had a complete brainfart and made myself look like an absolute idiot.
I would go with the mossberg, they also have shotguns with two barrels ( one for slugs, and one for target shells ETC,) for your price range.
I have had my Remington 870 pump 12 gauge for about 37 years now. I have used it on deer, duck, pheasant, and rabbits (Elmer Fudd has nothing on me). I have also used it for Bowling pin competition shooting, Skeet (suck at it), Trap (suck even worse at it), and Practical Three Gun Shooting competitions.
I have four barrels for the gun, one Skeet, one vent rib for bird hunting, one rifle sighted slug barrel, and one ported slug barrel for competitions. I have three stocks for the gun, the original wood, a replacement wood stock, and a black plastic stock (for competitions). My competition barrel is 20 inches and under it is a seven shot extension tube.
So, I can configure the old pump to do almost anything I want with it. Even though the gun is almost three times older than you, it is absolutely reliable – no matter what configuration I put it in.
You should be able to buy a basic Remington 870 for under $400. Check out the used gun racks, sometimes you can find a nice bargain.
A ten day hunt in Maine? Neat. . ., let us know how you do.
