If you want to make money removing pests in South Florida, water moccasins & Bufford toads are a huge issue even in the less sub-urban areas because they often poison pet dogs and cats. As for hunting to kill pythons, they are mostly kept as pets so hunt for retrieval would be more profitable as well as parrots and other tropical birds that roam prolifically.
A couple of months ago Playboy published an article about Florida’s pythons. The hunters that are now trying are not succeeding to make very much money. Pythons are passive hunters; they just lay and wait till something comes by. That coupled with their camouflage which makes them almost invisible when still makes them hard to hunt. I think that there are more profitable ways to hunt your way into a living.
There is a bounty on the pythons, so they may be worth your time if you are good at finding them.
