Can I use a Firearm safety certificate instead of a hunter safety certificate if I want to hunt?

I checked the schedule, and all of the hunter safety courses are 3 hours away,4 months away,or both. There are many more options for a firearm safety certificate.
Basic Rifle course that is.

I don’t know about your fire arms saftey course, but the one I took didn’t teach us about the laws and regulation of hunting

Not in New York and Connecticut. Safety certs are to buy guns not to hunt. What state are you in?

hunter safety usually includes extra stuff like unloading your gun and passing it to a buddy while crossing a fence, when you have to wear orange, breif coverage of when you need to use steel shot or other non-toxic shot, breif coverage of some other game laws, etc. Hence it isn’t quite the same as General Firearms Safety

There are some places that allow you to take on-line hunter safety classes

I am a certified hunter safety instructor. You must take the hunter safety course for it to be used for hunting purposes.

The basic pistol and basic rifle safety courses do not cover first aid, survival, game meat care and preparation, etc etc. The Hunter Safety course also has a range test and outdoor safety test.
