Best Grouse Dog Work

Best grouse dog work possibly ever recorded. Bird Dogs Afield visits Long Gone Kennels and films Long Gone Madison on a grouse hunt in New Hampshire. A must video for pointing dog enthusiasts and English Setter fans.

Wow, what an amazing point! My dogs can’t resist running in and flushing the bird out of range after that amount of time. That’s staunch.
It’s called “flagging”. Every dog that flagged in this video had a bird that walked off and they needed to relocate the bird. Or their tail was flagging after they were steady to wing and shot. Either case it’s completely normal or acceptable. Every point where a bird was produced was staunch and gorgeous. These dogs are at the top of their breed.
tail should not be shaking while on pointing.
It would be nice to have a dog to flush ‘em here in Minny, but I need the help retrieving birds. Especially early in the season, it can be hard to find ‘em even when they drop right in front of you. I’ve been losing way too many, and that is unacceptable in my book.
@25:45 Dave Hughes says, “This is called heaven”……..I would agree!
